For years I sought the father of my Jasper Barkley.  Jasper grew up and lived most of his life in Cherokee Co., Alabama, where he lived among many Barkleys.  These Barkleys were related to Barkleys in Anderson Co., South Carolina.  All the Barkleys in both places seemed to be tight and I was so sure Jasper was related, but it took a long time to figure out where.  Meanwhile, I had done much research on the Barkleys in those areas.  I found many discrepancies in what I was finding to be true and what some other Barkley researchers were indicating as true.  I say this because some of what follows may not agree entirely with what is found elsewhere, but after years of studying the Barkleys in these areas, I feel like I know some of them backwards and forwards!  :-)  Please feel free to email me with any questions or comments, and let me tell you why I think what I think.  Many thanks to Ken Wagers K.Wagers@worldnet.att.net who sent me his family history with a little unknown hole in it where I could finally perfectly fit my Barkley branch!  Some of his research is included in mine in the following.  There are still many blanks in the information, so if anyone out there can fill in the gaps, please write me!
