Generation No. 1

1.  LUKE ADAMS was born 1803 in Barren Co., Kentucky, and died 26 September 1845 in Illinois.  He married MARGARET RANKIN abt. 1827 in Monroe, Kentucky, daughter of JOHN RANKIN and SALLY NELSON.  She was born 17 April 1805 in Barren Co., Kentucky.

Children of LUKE ADAMS and MARGARET RANKIN are:

i. WILLIAM CLAYTON ADAMS, b. 15 August 1829, Illinois; d. 08 August 1920, Hamilton Co., Illinois; m. (1) HARRIET; m. (2) MARY ANN KEEN (b. December 1828, Missouri; d. bef. 1907).
ii. DANIEL ADAMS, b. abt. 1832, Illinois; d. aft. 1900, Oklahoma. (see 2.)
iii. HENRY H. ADAMS, b. 1841, Illinois; m. MALINDA J. ELDRIDGE, 14 January 1860, Hamilton Co., Illinois.
iv. MARY ELLENDER ADAMS, b. May 1844, Missouri; m. JOHN A. HOPSON (b. 14 June 1844, Hamilton Co., Illinois; d. 30 December 1928).

Generation No. 2

2.  DANIEL ADAMS (son of 1. LUKE ADAMS) was born abt. 1832 in Illinois, and died aft. 1900 in Oklahoma.  He married (1) RHODA JANE HALL 11 February 1854 in Hamilton Co., Illinois, daughter of AVEN HALL and RACHEL RANKIN.  She was born abt. 1832 in Tennessee, and died bet. 1870 - 1876.  He married (2) Mrs. MARY ELIZABETH MILLER abt. 1876.  She was born July 1847 in Mississippi.

Children of DANIEL ADAMS and RHODA HALL are:

i. HENRY DAWSON "DOSS" ADAMS, b. March 1855, Illinois; d. 1902, Rains Co., Texas. (see 3.)
ii. POLLY A. ADAMS, b. abt. 1857, Illinois.
iii. MARTIN ADAMS, b. abt. 1859, Illinois; m. JOSIE HIGGINBOTHAM, 03 January 1889, Rains Co., Texas.
iv. ELIZABETH ADAMS, b. abt. 1862, Illinois; m. E. D. FLOWERS, 03 January 1887, Rains Co., Texas.**

**Marriage Notes for ELIZABETH ADAMS and E.D. FLOWERS:  The marriage record was for E. Adams, so it's not certain it's Elizabeth.

i. SARAH A. "SALLIE" MILLER, b. abt. 1868, Mississippi; married JEPTHA ALBERT MELTON 20 December 1883 in Rains Co., Texas (son of JEPTHA MELTON and SABRA, b. abt. 1860 in Kaufman Co., Texas).
ii. SIMEON W. MILLER, b. 18 March 1870, Mississippi; d. 1911; married MARY EMMA MELVINA BEATTY 1894 (daughter of AARON BEATTY and MARGARET HARRIS, b. 18 February 1877 in Stephens Co., Texas, d. 01 October 1960 in New Mexico).

Generation No. 3

3.  HENRY DAWSON "DOSS" ADAMS (son of 2. DANIEL ADAMS) was born March 1855 in Illinois, and died 1902.  He married ELLEN B. LOWERY 1878 (daughter of WILLIAM LOWERY and ELIZABETH HEATH, b. February 1858 in Texas, d. abt. February 1902).

Children of HENRY ADAMS and ELLEN LOWERY are:

i. HENRY ADAMS, b. August 1879; d. 1947.
ii. NELLIE ADAMS, b. 15 January 1883, Texas; d. 14 June 1943. (see 9.)
iii. BETTIE ADAMS, b. June 1886; d. 1964. (see 10.)
iv. LESSIE ADAMS, b. 1891; d. 1946. (see 11.)
v. EFFIE GERTRUDE ADAMS, b. June 1891, Texas; d. 05 October 1926, Bowie, Montague Co., Texas. (see 12.)

4.  LUKE ADAMS (son of 2. DANIEL ADAMS) was born 26 December 1864 in Illinois, and died 07 November 1916 in St. Louis, Oklahoma.  He married (1) MARTHA TINSLEY KETCHUM (see photo here)  04 July 1889 in Rains Co., Texas.  She was born 25 October 1866, and died 22 November 1904 in Madill, Oklahoma.  He married (2) SARAH ELLEN PERKINS 1905 - 1910.

ii. LUCY TENSLEY ADAMS, b. 08 April 1890.

5.  FRANCIS MARION "PETE" ADAMS (son of 2. DANIEL ADAMS) was born 25 November 1880 in Emory, Rains Co., Texas, and died 22 December 1966 in Madill, Oklahoma.  He married DORA HELEN RADCLIFF bet. 1898 - 1899.  She was born 28 July 1883, and died 13 July 1968 in Mason, Oklahoma.

Children of FRANCIS ADAMS and DORA RADCLIFF are:

i. DEE VERNON ADAMS, b. Abt. 1907.
ii. SIBLE LAUREEN ADAMS.
iii. HAZEL ADAMS.

6.  CHARLOTTE "LOTTIE" ADAMS (dau. of 2. DANIEL ADAMS) was born 07 May 1885 in Emory, Rains Co., Texas, and died 31 January 1933 in Okemah, Oklahoma.  She married SIMON RADCLIFF.  He died 31 January 1933 in Okemah, Oklahoma.

Children of CHARLOTTE ADAMS and SIMON RADCLIFF are:

i. PAUL RADCLIFF.
ii. T. G. RADCLIFF.
iii. EUNICE RADCLIFF.

7.  MALETIE ADAMS (dau. of 2. DANIEL ADAMS) was born 23 March 1889 in Emory, Rains Co., Texas, and died 20 July 1969 in Maud, Oklahoma.  She married WILLIAM ROY HURST.  He was born 30 October 1889 in Salina, Kansas, and died July 1962 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Children of MALETIE ADAMS and WILLIAM HURST are:

i. VELMA HURST.
ii. WILMA HURST.

8.  KATE NELLIE ADAMS (dau. of 2. DANIEL ADAMS) was born 19 December 1891 in Emory, Rains Co., Texas, and died 28 August 1954 in Seminole, Oklahoma.  She married CHARLIE GRIFFIN 1910 in Earlsboro, Oklahoma. 

Children of KATE ADAMS and CHARLIE GRIFFIN are:

i. HERMAN EDWARD GRIFFIN.
ii. FLOYD DAVID GRIFFIN, b. 08 January 1912.
iii. PAULINE GRIFFIN, b. 15 November 1921.
iv. J. D. GRIFFIN, b. 05 September 1923.
v. WAYNE GRIFFIN, b. 13 September 1930, Seminole, Oklahoma.

Generation No. 4

9.  NELLIE ADAMS** (dau. of 3. HENRY DAWSON "DOSS" ADAMS) was born 15 January 1883 in Texas, and died 14 June 1943.  She married JAMES SIMPSON MARTIN 1908, son of JAMES MARTIN and MARY SYBERT.  He was born 17 September 1875 in Camp Co., Texas, and died 18 August 1951 in Rains Co., Texas.

Child of NELLIE ADAMS and JAMES MARTIN is:

i. OLAMAY MARTIN, b. 14 May 1909; d. 05 January 1910, Rains Co., Texas.

**Note for NELLIE ADAMS:  Nellie must have divorced as her tombstone lies near her sister's and shows Nellie Adams again, and James does remarry.

10.  BETTIE ADAMS (dau. of 3. HENRY DAWSON "DOSS" ADAMS) was born June 1886, and died 1964.  She married JOSEPH WILLIS MCKAY, son of TOM MCKAY and MARTHA REDDING.  He was born 18 July 1879, and died 1943 in Rains Co., Texas.

Children of BETTIE ADAMS and JOSEPH MCKAY are:

i. OLIVER MCKAY.
ii. RUBY MCKAY.
iii. SHIRLEY MCKAY.
iv. MITTIE "MIT" MCKAY.
v. FAY E. MCKAY married JOE MILLER (son of SIMEON MILLER and MARY BEATTY, b.  02 March 1906 in Holdenville, Hughes Co., Oklahoma, d. 21 August 1971).
vi. DINA "BILLIE" MCKAY.
vii. CLYDE MCKAY.
viii. LAMUEL MCKAY.

11.  LESSIE ADAMS (dau. of 3. HENRY DAWSON "DOSS" ADAMS) was born 1891, and died 1946.  She married ARTHUR JONES (born 21 August 1889, and died 18 February 1958).

Child of LESSIE ADAMS and ARTHUR JONES is:

i. VELMA JONES, m. Mr. FLETCHER.

12.  EFFIE GERTRUDE ADAMS** (dau. of 3. HENRY DAWSON "DOSS" ADAMS) was born June 1891 in Texas, and died 05 October 1926 in Bowie, Montague Co., Texas.  She married WILLIE JASPER SPENCE 19 August 1906 in Hunt Co., Texas, son of JOHN SPENCE and AMANDA BARKLEY.  He was born 30 July 1885 in Cherokee Co., Alabama, and died 08 October 1964 in Sulphur Springs, Hopkins Co., Texas.

Children of EFFIE ADAMS and WILLIE SPENCE are:

i. HALLIE J. SPENCE, b. 01 June 1907; d. 31 August 1982; m. (1) SILAS J. BURLESON, bet. 1920 - 1925 (b. 28 September 1904, d. 28 May 1960); m. (2) LANNIE MOORE, aft. 1960.
ii. GRACIE SPENCE, b. 1909; m. BRIAN MILLER.  She died about a year after her marriage, of typhoid fever.
iii. RACHEL SPENCE, b. 1910; d. 1970; m. BUNK ADAIR (b. 1903, d. 1965).
iv. JOE SPENCE, b. Abt. 1914; d. 2002; m. MERCEDES DAVIS.
v. RAYMOND EUGENE SPENCE, b. 10 August 1916, Kaufman, Texas; d. 24 August 1994, Wood Co., Texas. (see 13.)
vi. JOHN DOSS SPENCE, b. 22 January 1918; d. 2005. (see 14.)
vii. STANLEY SPENCE, b. 1921.

**Notes for EFFIE GERTRUDE ADAMS:  Effie died in a gruesome accident.  The family was moving to Mountain View, Oklahoma, when their truck broke down and they all transferred to the truck of Max Barker, who was traveling with them.  Effie and the children had to sit in the back of the truck.  Effie sat in a rocking chair facing the traffic behind.  They were traveling through Bowie, Texas, at night, when they went under a too-low bridge, and Effie was hit in the back of the head and nearly decapitated.  Daughter Gracie was badly hurt, as well, but lived.

13.  RAYMOND EUGENE SPENCE (son of 12. EFFIE GERTRUDE ADAMS) was born 10 August 1916 in Kaufman, Texas, and died 24 August 1994 in Wood Co., Texas.  He married VERBA MAE RICHARDSON 20 June 1936 in Emory, Rains Co., Texas, daughter of JAMES RICHARDSON and EVA GARRETT.  She was born 23 December 1921 in Garden Valley, Texas.

Children of RAYMOND SPENCE and VERBA RICHARDSON are:

i. ROY LEE SPENCE, b. 11 November 1938, Rains Co., Texas; m. MARGARET DELOIS KIRKPATRICK, 07 September 1957, Rains Co., Texas; b. 28 April 1941, Rains Co., Texas.
ii. CARL SPENCE, b. 07 September 1941; m. PAULINE NELSON.
iii. JANET SPENCE, b. 09 March 1944; m. GERALD BLANTON.
iv. GLENDA SPENCE, b. 31 October 1946; died 2005; m. JAMES HAROLD FRITZ.

14.  JOHN DOSS SPENCE (son of 12. EFFIE GERTRUDE ADAMS) was born 22 January 1918 and died in 2005.  He married (1) LENA MAE WILLIAMS.  She was born 02 February 1920.  He married (2) LILLIAN. 

Child of JOHN SPENCE and LENA WILLIAMS is:

i. JOHNNIE J. SPENCE, b. 30 March 1937, Rains Co., Texas; d. 31 March 1937, Rains Co., Texas.
