| Welcome to my webpage and my personal reflections on truth. Although they are personal thoughts, I feel confident in my knowledge of truth because I know the source of truth. I love the way the New Living Translation of the Holy Bible states it in Romans 3:4: Though everyone else in the world is a liar, God is true. Romans 3:4 And how do we know God's truth? All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal. Psalm 119:160 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. John 17:17 When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me. John 15:26 We know truth from God's Word and from the indwelling Holy Spirit that we receive when we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior. It's that plain and simple! Only God is true, and we can know truth through His Word and His Spirit. Period! The argument that the Bible is not the inerrant Word of God because flawed man has interpreted it doesn't hold up for many reasons. For one, no other book in the history of the world has received the scrutiny and hostile attempts to disprove it, and it still holds up. For another, consider the people who don't consider the Bible to be completely true - what do they consider to be true? Is it what they "feel" to be true? So does every person feel the same truth about everything? Of course not! So how can everyone feel what is true? It's not even reasonable to think we can know truth on our own. That same "flawed man" that supposedly misinterpreted the Bible can determine real truth? I guess "that" man was wrong, but "I" know better? How many "I's" out there are determining the truth for us? There has to be a real basis for truth, a rule, a true measure. And there is! But people don't always like the truth. They want to make up their own that makes them feel better about themselves. But does that make it true? Though everyone else in the world is a liar, God is true. Romans 3:4 Left to our own devices, we are ALL wrong! We are all liars. Only God is true, but we can know truth by knowing God's Word! And how do we know God's Word? I believe there are two important parts to that. One is the Spirit of Truth, the indwelling Holy Spirit. But we have to have that measure to know that what we are hearing is true, because unfortunately, there are other spirits competing for our attention. Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 1 Timothy 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1 Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. 2 Corinthians 11:14 And how do we try the spirits? ...they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. Acts 17:11 We do as the Bereans did and see if it lines up with the Word of God, the Bible! The Apostle Paul commended the Bereans for checking him out as we find when we read his words above in context. Then the brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea. When they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. Acts 17:10-11 So armed with the Spirit of Truth and the Word of God, we can be confident that we know truth. But those who do not have Christ can't see it. We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. 1 John 4:6 ...the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. John 14:17 Even though many cannot hear it, we are called to speak the truth. That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain. Philippians 2:15-16 But there are those who will hear the truth and be saved, just as all born-again Christians were once lost, but heard, followed the leading of the Holy Spirit, and were saved. God is calling His people out of darkness. Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. 1 Corinthians 6:9 And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd. John 10:16 And I heard another voice from heaven saying, "Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues." Revelation 18:4 Recently I read a scripture I have read many times before and for the first time, I saw something alarming. Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near. Isaiah 55:6 WHILE He may be found? WHILE He is near? That sounds to me like there will be a time when He WON'T be near and can't be found! That is a scary thought! And indeed we are told again that a time is coming when... ...the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, Because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, Because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man--and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, Who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; Being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; Who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them. Romans 1:18-32 Three times in the previous scriptures it states that "God gave them up" or "gave them over". Now that is a terribly scary thought! It looks as though one day God is going to say "Enough!" and He won't be near and He won't be found and He will give up on the foolish people described in those scriptures. Who are those people? Does it not sound like many people today? Truth is suppressed and people choose to decide for themselves what is right and what they believe their God will do rather than believe what He said. They have changed the true image of the incorruptible God into their own image; they have exchanged the truth of God for a lie. Many of today's so-called Christians believe God understands our changing culture and has no problem with the murder of the most innocent and that He wouldn't want us to discriminate against those committing homosexual acts. But the Truth says that one of the things God detests most is the shedding of innocent blood. It says He finds homosexuality an abomination and He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of it, yet somehow we believe he'll just wink and let it pass now in our country? How absurd! There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood... Proverbs 6:16-17 They even sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons, And shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; and the land was polluted with blood. Psalm 106:37-38 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. Leviticus 18:22 As Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. Jude 1:7 Is our land not polluted with the blood of 45,000,000 of the most innocent that were sacrificed because of selfishness and convenience? And for what example are Sodom and Gomorrah set forth? How can it be more plain? Yet we worship and serve the created rather than the Creator. We save the trees, but kill the children. We go to great links to save an endangered species or a pristine wilderness to the detriment of the people trying to survive in this world. God gave man dominion over the earth and everything in it; it's not the other way around. Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." Genesis 1:26 So God gave them up to vile passions to commit the homosexual acts described above. Do we not see an escalation in the incidence of homosexuality in our country? There's a boldness about it with no shame. Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No! They were not at all ashamed, nor did they know how to blush. Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; in the time of their punishment they shall be cast down," says the Lord. Jeremiah 8:12 I've had a sense lately that our time is short. I find it pretty evident by the above scriptures and others that we are nearing the end times and the Bible says those days will be shortened. I feel like the rapid pace with which events are moving could be part of this shortening that God is doing for His people's sake, as He says in both Matthew 24:22 and in Mark 13:20: And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect's sake those days will be shortened. Matthew 24:22 And unless the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect's sake, whom He chose, He shortened the days. Mark 13:20 Because the days are shortened and things are happening at a faster rate, there becomes an urgency to be about our Father's business. While in the past, Christian political activism was very important to me and while trying to change and/or prevent bad immoral laws is a worthwhile cause, it seems there is an urgent more important task at present. I've always felt that bad laws should be prevented or reversed because they deceive people into thinking their sins are okay. This nation believes that it is okay to murder the most innocent and that perverted homosexual sex that is an abomination to our Lord should be glorified and taught to our youngest school children. While we all sin and I don't believe a homosexual act is any more of a sin in God's eyes than any other sin, our nation is responsible for teaching a whole generation of confused young people that it's okay and that God made some of them that way. To me that is the saddest part of any bad law, the people it deceives, people who can become comfortable and very lost in their destructive sins. So now more than just trying to contact my Congressman to change a bad law, it feels more pressing to save people from destruction. And all the more urgent when you consider that God may not always be near or may not be found and He may reach a point where He gives them up. I am in prayer for my country and for those deceived by the world. I have this burning desire to speak God's truth and to lead loved ones to God's Word, knowing when they choose to draw near to Him, He will draw near to them. When they seek Him with all their hearts, He will be found. But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul. Deuteronomy 4:29 But He won't be found forever. Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near. Isaiah 55:6 This crazy truthless world is changing so rapidly that one can barely keep up with the changes. I decided a blog site might be a good way to keep up with the issues and invite discussions to seek God's truth in them. The internet puts our words out to the entire world (for the time being) and His Word never returns void, but accomplishes His purpose. So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:11 So I will trust that my words may be used to serve His purposes. I've never so much as posted to a blog, and now I will attempt to create one! In the beginning it may be no more than my personal journal regarding the madness that is our world at present, but perhaps it will grow to include discussions with others.
